CG Kitchen Garden is an example of famous Indian ‘Jugaad Innovation’ at its best. It draws heavily on locally available resources, uses basic principles of sophomore grade science and draws upon craftsmanship possible only through skilled human hands to create a piece of fine ArtTech that solves a very common problem faced by each household – problem of accessing pesticide free, fresh and healthy food.
From outward appearance, a CG Kitchen Garden may look nothing more than a Vertical Tower housed with a matching storage planter, but one look inside will show a fine amalgamation of tech and craft. At the core of CG Kitchen Garden is the Vertical tower that acts as a storehouse for plants and provides them with ideal conditions for growth outside of soil. The Grow Tower houses a submersible pump that recirculates water at pre-determined frequencies controlled through a digital timer. Water rises through the central pipe (shown in red) and comes out of the other end and spills onto aeration disk which plays a vital role in increasing availability of dissolved oxygen inside water. Through aeration disk water falls onto dispenser chamber and starts accumulating there. Small holes in dispenser chamber allow this water to slowly seep through and provide moisture and dissolved nutrients to plants that are housed in several net-pots. A separate filter chamber inside the grow tower (just above container surface) helps in catching any falling roots or debris and can be cleaned through a small outlet hole periodically. The storage container housing the grow tower also acts as a storage container for water and dissolved nutrients both of which can be refilled through the top end of grow tower.
With its innovative design (Patent Pending), CG Kitchen Garden provides a near autonomous unit that can grow multiple crops in the space that usually could grow only one. To see a short video of CG Kitchen Garden overview, click here
