Training with City Greens

Very often we have been asked what does our training encompass? How does it help?
Today, we give you a pictorial view of aspects that are covered and how practically it is done!

The 3-day program covers:

  • How to go about setting up a basic unit at home.
  • The challenges of doing this on one’s own.
  • Our experiences with different crops and what you can learn from it

This program is ideal for:

  • Those seeking to start a home based unit – but do not know how
  • Those seeking healthy – home grow food options
  • Those who have done their research but are not convinced
  • Those who have tried but yet to succeed

Often, it is difficult for people to understand the specifics of how to go about setting up different types of Hydroponic systems and the challenges in running and maintaining it. Our training gives a fair level of confidence to the participants to go back home and replicate the same. This reduces the need for expensive readymade systems as we show you how to run this with basic home available options. The training also helps reduce the risk of failure and our team is always available to support the participants in their onward journey.

Those attending the training gain a hands-on experience in aspects of growing leafy greens and vegetables- without soil – the different steps involved like, Sowing, Transplanting and Harvesting.

Sowing / Planting:

Transplanting:

Transplanting

Busy and engrossed!

Harvesting:

Table radish – time to add this to the daily diet!

One of our students happy to harvest the amaranthus- happier to see the roots!!

Kale – the most nutritious of all the greens growing in our Research Centre  – growing in Namma Bengaluru!

Kale! Fresh and ready to eat!

We are looking to motivate all those who are wanting to plunge in – but are still on the fence!

Sometimes you choose your profession. Sometimes God chooses your profession for you. For me it was the latter – The quest to find purpose and expression came in the form of my work. A connection with soil, water, growth and life.

As a kid, I would secretly wish that grown-up life was just like my childhood – running around luscious green fields, feeding the farm cows, chasing and being chased by hens, goats, cousins, the wind in my hair, the rain on my face, the smell of the earth after a rain, and the sound of non-stop laughter.

It was a sad day, when I realised that my wish was just that – a wish! Its been a personal mission for me to recreate the magic of my childhood in any way possible and contribute to clean air, smiling faces, nourishing food, happier homes all with a sense of awe and gratitude. Thus I found my way to CityGreens – here I help people sow, plant, nurture, care and harvest plants. Through plants a better home and life.

When I was not running around and playing with my cousins and farm animals I also managed to do my B.Tech and MBA.
